CEO and Founder
Jim has 20 years upstream oil and gas experience with a proven track record in international business development. He is an entrepreneur with a track record of success in blue chips and start-ups, his key strengths are his creativity, enthusiasm and energy. Jim successfully exited his stake in his last start business to the majority shareholders and has since become a prolific angel investor. His angel investments include a variety of low-carbon and renewables ventures.
CTO and Co-Founder
Jamie Watson is a senior scientist and Technical Fellow at Medtronic with 25 years experience of academic and industrial research management. He hold Bachelors, Masters and PhD degrees in Physics, AI and Neural Computing, respectively. He is a Chartered Physicist and he sits on a number of Industry Committees (BSI, ISO, AAMI). He has published over 40 peer-reviewed publications and is named inventor on over 100 issued US patents. Jamie is a Founder, Director and CTO of CardioDigital Limited, a medical device device company that successfully raised two rounds of funding before a trade sale to Covidien in 2008. Moving to Covidien as part of the sale means he has experienced technology development from original concept in an early stage startup right through to regulatory clearance and global release by the worlds largest medical device company. His specific technical skills include: signal processing, computational logic, and quantitative & statistical methods. As well as the expected R&D initiatives, his expertise has been used to support Legal, Marketing, Sales and Regulatory projects while part of Medtronic.
COO and Co-Founder
Andrew has over 25-years of experience investing in the transformation of energy markets and the development of lower carbon energy and infrastructure solutions.He ran the investment business of Climate Change Capital (CCC) in China until 2010, funding the development of clean energy and emission reduction projects through the adoption of innovative technology solutions. He managed a team that completed over 30 deals, managing an investment portfolio of over €500m. Prior to CCC, Andrew headed up the Power Group at CDC Group, building a €350m portfolio of investments across electricity generation, transmission and distribution, in developing countries – Africa, Latin America and South & South East Asia. Since he moved back to the UK in 2012, he has been active in the development of renewable energy projects in Europe and distributed energy/micro-grids in Africa, as well as acting as an angel investor and mentor of early-stage technology ventures. He recently founded the investor syndicate, Earth Angel Investors, to provide funding to innovative, early stage technology companies that are promoting the transition to a circular economy. Based in Edinburgh, Andrew works with companies across the UK. He holds a BSc (Hons) in Physics from Imperial College, London and is an ACA qualified Chartered Accountant.
Federico has international experience in B2C and B2B marketing. He has worked in marketing in Italy, Spain & the UK. In Italy he witnessed first-hand the effects of climate change on the tourism sector. This spurred a desire to work in the low carbon renewables space. In Spain and the UK he has added to his knowledge, recently gaining a Masters degree in Energy Management at the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen. His concern on the effects of Climate Change and passion for technology innovation make him a perfect fit for Boxergy.
Michael is an experienced installer of renewable energy systems having been self-employed for over 7 years as a renewable energy contractor. He has installed heat pumps, solar pv, biomass boilers. solar thermal and battery storage systems throughout Scotland and beyond. He has a wealth of experience in domestic and commercial settings. Michael's involvement in the installed Boxergy systems has enabled us to turn the Boxergy concept into a practical reality.
Advisory Board Member
Over 20-years of professional experience, with extensive knowledge of energy markets, trading, power generation, investment, including renewable energy development and operation. Extensive knowledge of energy markets, power generation, trading, investment and infrastructure development. He has consulted and advised on policy, and lobbied UK and Irish government (cross party) and the EU on regulatory, climate and market issues. He is also an active participant and often speaker in industry events. Graeme is currently leading the National Grid’s electric vehicle strategy.

Systems engineer with 35 years experience working with organisations such as Cisco, Greenpeace, Intel, Oxfam, Practical Action, Skype, Sony, and Vodafone to develop high tech products. Graham has gained deep insight into the energy system and the challenges it faces as it decarbonises and becomes more distributed and people-centred. This made him found Upside Energy in 2013.
Advisory Board Member
Reader at University of Edinburgh and Director of Institute for Adaptive and Neural Computation. Leads the IDEAL Domestic Energy Project. Nigel’s research focus is the application of machine-learning methods in energy related areas from national infrastructure to individual properties. Examples of his work include: reducing energy demand from existing domestic dwellings through occupant behaviour change and understanding and reducing energy demand in public sector buildings.
